Why we retired Ghost from our addon catalogue

We removed Ghost from the addon catalogue. Here's why: it required Node.js, the install was thin, WordPress already covers the use case, and we had no real customer demand.

This URL used to host an installation guide for Ghost CMS as a one-click TrueCore addon. We've removed Ghost from the catalogue and replaced this post with the reasoning. Updated 8 May 2026.

What changed

We added Ghost — the Node.js publishing platform — as a one-click installer when we launched. As of 7 May 2026 it is no longer in the addon catalogue. New customers can't install it; existing installations were notified directly with migration options.

Why we removed it

If you were planning to use Ghost on TrueCore

The closest equivalent on our platform is WordPress with SQLite, which is in the Add-ons tab on Ember and up. It gives you a clean install with no separate database to manage, runs in the same sandboxed environment as everything else on your account, and we package + maintain it ourselves.

If you specifically need Ghost-only features — managed memberships with tiered paid subscriptions, or Ghost's built-in newsletter delivery — we'd honestly suggest a Ghost-managed host (ghost.org) or a generic VPS where you control the runtime. Both are better fits for those features than anything we'd ship as a thin TrueCore addon.

Why we're keeping this URL alive

We could have 404'd this page. We didn't, because we'd rather be findable for "Ghost on TrueCore" with an honest "we used to, here's why we don't anymore" than leave dangling links elsewhere on the internet pointing at nothing. If we change our mind about Node-as-a-runtime in the future, we'll update this post again.
