ℹ️ Winter flood preparation — grit bins and sandbags

Ahead of winter the Council reviews the parish flood plan and checks the three grit bins. Residents in the low-lying part of the parish can request sandbags through Maidstone Borough Council. Live flood warnings for this area are shown at the top of this page automatically, direct from the Environment Agency.

🌊 Flooding

Parts of Nettlestead lie within the Medway flood plain. The Environment Agency operates flood warnings for the tidal and non-tidal Medway, and residents in low-lying properties are strongly encouraged to register for free warnings by phone, text or email.

The Parish Council maintains a flood plan and keeps grit bins at three locations through the winter. Blocked drains and gullies on the public highway are the responsibility of Kent County Council and can be reported directly — see Report an issue.
